The panel of judges will be announced in April 2021.

“The artistic creed of our architectural studio is to create the facilities that form the modern living environment. We want that the facilities designed by us will have not only the well-proportioned static forms, but also interacted with the environment and created recognizable dynamic spaces for people capable of changing depending on the functional requirements.

The favorite “palette” of our architects are the natural materials - wood, stone, lawn, a landscaped area that we treat as a specific “building set” to be used for creating our facilities. We do not separate exterior and interior designs, we perceive them as a whole that forms the spirit and features of the designed space. In our works, we prefer dynamic and asymmetric forms adaptable to various functional tasks”.

The winner in the Interior Design nomination is the Astragal Design Studio headed by Irina Kartun

“The architecture is nothing like other fields, this is a product of culture and civilization.

In my design works, I’m focused on lighting, representations of the space, passages, and atmosphere, everything is strengthened and bound by the one important theme (or special spatial arrangement), and everything that surrounds the theme is simplified.

My focuses are the relaxed and manageable spaces that can improve human living and mindset, and inspire in all respects; space/aesthetics that propels the mind to think and stimulate feedback.

I believe that our architecture/city forms us.
There is a kind of dialog between the mind and space, and this dialog is demonstrated by human perception of the space,
light and following feelings that are formed regarding the place influencing our consciousness. I try to establish this relation.

That is why, in my work I’m too focused on searching for new modes of motion and new light bodies where we are focused on the nature and try to investigate the nature-surrounding space.

I think that motion, transition, and light are strongly related to space and communication, and this is also that attracts me so much in my architectural works.

We work with different sculptural methods and various materials. There are too many items remained unexplored in the architecture.

The nature is a really large part of my work. This is its endless stream of beauty, I like to make my own interpretations trying to transform the logic being the basis of the systems of nature.

I just feel limited within one sphere, that’s why along with the conventional materials, I use more unusual ones in my work. This means finding a balance between the regular form and the correct material, and when you find an ideal combination, it becomes free.

My process is rather chaotic, we draw a lot and model tens of alternatives, conduct a lot of experiments.

The architecture has a really wonderful tradition of the centuries-old mastership. I think that the focus on innovations has been obvious for recent decades”.

The winner in the City Architecture nomination is the Italian participant Wafai.Architecture

“We are a young team of architects that have joined to make our dreams and vision of beauty be real projects. Our passion is the energy-efficient private villas and hotels, our feature is a new view towards common architectural forms, our vision is close communion of the architecture with the wild nature.

The main area of our team is the countryside architecture where we combine common architectural forms and design codes with bold decisions interacting with the environment.

Due to the large area of glazing, a man staying inside such projects as SOL house experiences a likelihood of the stage effect of the “broken fourth wall”. Wherever a visitor stays, he/she will never lose visual connection with the surrounding landscape due to abundant natural light penetrating all round the interior.

Following the philosophy of design, Alex Nerovnya Architecture managed to develop more than 20 innovative projects of private villas, hotels, restaurants, and resort complexes for the Russian, CIS, Middle East, and European markets for the last 2 years. Working on projects all over the world, we have learned to embody our vision in a number of forms, sizes, and climatic zones”.
